RR vs LSG Highlights

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals scored a mammoth score of 193/3 against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The host team gave a good target to LSG and KL Rahul’s team needs a strong performance to chase the target under lights.

After losing the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR captain Sanju Samson took charge of his team’s innings and scored his 21st half-century. A strong partnership was formed between Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag but LSG fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq gave his team the lead by dismissing Riyal Parag.

Pre Match Overview

Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals have been in good form in the last two seasons, reaching the final in 2022 and finishing fifth last season. The Rajasthan Royals will also have the advantage of playing on home ground thanks to the strong spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal as well as key fast bowlers like Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna.

On the other hand, LSG is facing some problems as point guards like Mark Wood and David Willey have already been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries. Meanwhile, captain KL Rahul’s fitness will also be in doubt after he suffered an injury during the recently concluded India-England Test series.

Before Gambhir’s departure, Australian coach Justin Langer joined the franchise and it is believed that his Australian temperament will have the best impact on the team. Despite being a team with a strong Indian presence, taskmaster Langer was heavily favored to end LSG’s playoff chaos.

One look at this LSG batting order will make bowlers drool. Quinton de Kock, a consistent IPL star, and Devdutt Padikkal, who made memorable debuts and was the breakout star three years ago. If we add the power pair of Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis to this, then this order can beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians in terms of batting power.

Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell and Riyan Parag have been in top form and while this is the batting unit’s crown jewel, their bowling line-up is nothing short of stars. Chahal and Ashwin are the two main players and when it comes to attacking pace, Trent Boult is at the forefront.

Finally, Sanju Sanson, the RR captain has repeatedly risen to the occasion and with the squad for the T20 World Cup set to be announced in May, Samson and Rahul will be keen to plead their case. Samson missed out on a place in India’s last two World Cup squads, but T20 is definitely on the horizon.

Samson, along with Jitesh Sharma, may face competition from Rahul for India’s wicketkeeping position in the West Indies and USA. Actually, it is a three-way fight. Rahul’s fate in T20Is still hangs in the balance as apart from Rohit Sharma, there are no guaranteed starters including Virat Kohli. So yes, keep an eye on the next few months, especially the performances of Rahul and Samson
